In 2010, NFL fans were treated to feast after feast of outstanding Monday night NFL action, starting with the pre-season taster between the New York Jets and the New York Giants at the Jets brand new $1.6 billion dollar 83,000 capacity New Meadowlands Stadium on August 16th. It was the first NFL game played at the Jets new home, although the party was spoiled somewhat by the Giants taking the match 31 points to 16.

As the Giants play in the National Football Conference East Division, and the Jets are in the American Football Conference East Division, unless they meet in the Super Bowl itself, New York's two teams only get to face off in high profile pre-season friendlies.

During the regular season, the Giants failed to qualify for the playoffs, finishing second to the Philadelphia Eagles, despite finishing with the exact same 10-6 won-lost record. Normally that would have been enough to take them through to the playoffs, but in 2010 the Giants lost out to the Green Bay Packers, second in the NFC North Division, who pipped them to the post due to a slightly stronger points difference.

The Giants were to feature in only one Monday night NFL game, defeating the Dallas Cowboys 41-35 in their own Cowboys Stadium on August 25th . If kicking back with a beer and a bet while watching the Giants play the Cowboys sounds like a perfect Monday night to you, remember to log onto MondayNightFootballPicks.com, and help yourself to our Monday night football picks, and guarantee yourself great returns on all of your NFL betting.

The Jets finished a strong second in the AFC East, posting a solid 11-5 record in finishing behind the phenomenal 2010 New England Patriots who had virtually bulldozed away all before them, compiling a 14-2 record that was the best in the NFL.

Both the Jets and the Patriots featured in several NFL Monday night games, the Jets losing a low scoring home game against the Baltimore Ravens 10-9, the first Monday night football game of the 2010 season. In October the Jets defeated the Minnesota Vikings 29-20 at the New Meadowlands Stadium.

Monday night football fans got to see the Patriots for the first time on October 4th, as they brushed aside the Miami Dolphins 41-14 at the Sun Life Stadium, as 75,000 stunned Floridians looked on. The Patriots second appearance on Monday night football saw them entertain the Jets, who were making their third and final Monday night showing, at their Gillette Stadium home, where the Patriots had been nothing less than devastating.

The Jets were one of only two teams to defeat the Patriots in the regular season, beating them 28-14 at the New Meadowlands Stadium in the second week of the season. If the Jets believed that that win would stand them in good stead for the rematch at the Gillette Stadium, they were wrong. The Patriots were at their absolute ruthless best, annihilating the Jets 45-3, the Patriots most one-sided win in a season of one-sided wins.

As all NFL fans know, there was to be one more twist to the Jets v Patriots 2010-2011 rivalry - when the Jets shocked the critics and experts alike, and stunned the 70,000 New Englanders in the Gillette Stadium as they systematically took the Patriots apart 28-21 in the playoffs, for the biggest upset of the entire season.
